About BMSCE

Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah, shortly referred to as BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) is an autonomous college in Basavangudi, Bangalore. It was established in the year 1946, which makes it one of the oldest, and with time it is the Top engineering college in Bangalore.

It comes under the top private engineering colleges of Bangalore. In the ranking of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020, BMS College Of Engineering had scored the 73rd position among all the engineering colleges in the country. In the survey of Times Engineering Institute 2020, B.M.S. College of Engineering has achieved the 8th rank among the top 150 Engineering.

Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah, who was a philanthropist, took the first step towards establishing a private sector for technical education in India. Initially, when the college was started it was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University but later got its autonomy in the year 2008. BMSCE has the accredited status of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the highest grade of A++ in the second cycle with the highest CGPA of 3.83 in the country on a scale of 4 from 28.03.2019 to 28.03.2024.

There are eight blocks in the BMS college of engineering: Mechanical and Architecture Block, The Classrooms, Library, Computer Science / Information, Telecommunications /Science/ Electronic block, Admin Block, Sports Complex, Post Graduate, and Science Block. In the year 2006, BMS college of engineering celebrated its “Diamond Jubilee”.

Students from different parts of the country and world come to take admission in BMS College of Engineering. BMS engineering college is well known for its annual inter-collegiate techno-cultural festival UTSAV.

BMS College Of Engineering Admission Procedure

BMS College Of Engineering admission criteria has 3 different methods.

  1. KEA/COMED-K

  2. Lateral Entry Scheme

  3. Management Quota

KEA/COMED-K and Lateral Entry Scheme are the entrance-based methods to take admission in BMS college of engineering while Management Quota is a method to take direct admission in BMS college of engineering.

Here is the complete detail about all these 3 methods.

  1. KEA/COMED-K

A candidate who has passed in 2nd PUC / 12 Std / Equivalent Examination with English as one of the languages and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks (For General Category Students) and a minimum of 40% of Marks (For SC/ST & OBC Category Students) in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics as optional subjects are qualified to give the KEA/COMED-K entrance examination and then pursue the under graduation program (BE) after qualifying it.

Any Karnataka or non-Karnataka student can give this entrance examination to take admission in BMS College Of Engineering.

2. Lateral Entry Scheme: This is the process of taking admission in the second year (third semester) or third year (fifth semester) of the Bachelor Degree in Engineering only for the people who have a diploma or equivalent qualification with an aggregate minimum of 45% (for General Merit Candidates) of marks and minimum of 40% (for SC, ST and Backward Classes)

This Lateral Entry Scheme is only for Karnataka students.

3. Management Quota: If you want to take direct admission to BMS college of engineering through management quota, you need to pay the donation to the college. The amount of donation varies from course to course. The eligibility criteria are to have an average of 60% and above in PUC or 12th standard in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics.
