The history of the Institution starts back in the year 1884 when it was established by the Paris Foreign Mission Fathers. Under their leadership, the St. Joseph’s institution have grown steadily since and currently have more than 10,000 students studying under its roof. The college have proven to give the management industry, loads to reliable and excellent assets with its many undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in its five branches namely St. Joseph’s College, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, St. Joseph’s Evening College, St. Joseph’s College of Law and St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration (now known as St. Joseph’s Institution of Management). About MBA Program
In November 1996, the institution became AICTE affiliated for a full time two year PGDM programme. The institution became eligible from AICTE to offer Executive PGDM and PGCM Programmes in August 2007.
For all those students who want to have more profound studies in MBA, the institution offers specialization in five fields. All those specializations are based upon the combination of two courses. They are mentioned below.
The best combination for students who want to try their luck in finances in addition to their use of skills in the marketing field. In this specialization, you will be able to learn the concepts of both fields and apply them to the fullest. For Instance, in Finance, you will be able to learn about the financial markets and service, portfolio management, and even banking. Then, with this knowledge, and with the inclusion of your marketing knowledge, you will be able to draw points such as consumer behaviour and sales and distribution to pitch the products to the consumers. With this specialization, you can choose a career which includes in selling products to customers, such as in commercial banking, investment, or even in financial planning firms, credit card services or insurance companies are some options too. You also can go solely for choosing a career in Finance or even the Marketing department of some organization.
If you want to work in the Human Resources department or even the Finance department for any organization, the specialization is for you. In this, you will be able to study and learn the various aspects of Human Resource Management in depth. In addition to this, you will also be able to gain a keen knowledge of Taxation, mergers and acquisitions, financial modelling, and so on. Candidates having the Human Resource Management knowledge in addition to these business skills are known to have a higher preference than others.
An alternative for Internal Marketing, the students enrolled in this specialization will be made to learn the principles with in-depth learning of Human Resources Management or Marketing and also by engaging in cross-disciplinary tasks. In this specialization, a student will be able to apply his or her marketing knowledge in the field of Human Resource Management and many more. You can get a career quickly in Internal Branding or salesforce management and even can get to work in the Human Resource Department or even the Marketing department for any organization.
Students interested in Operations or those who are from a quantitative or even from an engineering background may find this very interesting. The specialization allows them to combine their knowledge of various subjects of Engineering, Logistics and Finance. In this specialization, students will have to use their knowledge of lean management, six sigma, productivity, project management, supply chain and even service operations management to solve the problems in the various industry such as Finance Industry, Banking Industry, Insurance and even in Financial Planning. Students opting for this specialization can work and choose their career in the logistics department for any organization. They can even go for the Finance or Operation department of some organizations too.
Students interested in operation in addition to marketing are supposed to be in this specialization. Students will be able to use their knowledge in drawing operations such as in ERP, supply chain management, materials management and even in services operations. They can also apply their knowledge in marketing to enhance their values. Students in this specialization can choose their role in logistics such as in business to business marketing, retail management or even in distribution. You can also decide to go solely for the role or marketing or operations in some of the organizations.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission
For being able to sit among the students in St. Joseph’s Institution of Management in MBA, one must have the following.
- Have a Graduate or Post Graduate degree in any discipline from any recognized university.
- Must have marks higher than 60% from in his or her academic records in Class 10th Onwards.
Candidates who are currently in their final graduation year examination and are waiting for their results can also apply for this university. Offers made to these students will automatically cancel if the students fail to submit the effects on the agreed date or if the students fail to achieve 60% or more marks in the examination.
The selection of the students in this institution will be based upon the results of the following.
The student will have to take some of the Management Entrance Examination such as CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT and GMAT; MAT with a minimum of 550 composite scores. On the ratings of these marks, the eligibility of the student will be specified.
The college, during the admission process, will pass the students through two tasks – The written and the interaction one. In the written job, the students will be made to write an essay, and in the interaction one, there will be a personal interview round for the students.
If the candidate has some work experience, he will get some perks based upon his career and the progress and achievements he made during that.
The marks of Higher education, Secondary Higher education and even the degree level will also play a significant role in deciding the eligibility of a candidate.
With all the necessary criteria, the Entrance Examination score, the Essay Writing Assignment, the Personal Interview round, the work experience (if any) and even the marks of previous studies, the student will be decided if eligible for admission in St. Joseph’s Institution of management or not.
Well, initially, the academic performance, the entrance test scores and the work experience will be assessed. A shortlist based on these factors will be made. Candidates who have passed this assessment will only be able to get admission in the institution and will be ready to go for the Essay Writing Assignment and the Personal Interview round for further admission process in the institution.
